He was camping in an area known as the rock pit alongside US Route 1 on Grassy Key, a limestone quarry site used by campers and party-goers alike. While there, though, he was approached by a man he later described as a "hippie-type," who offered to show him a decomposing human body for a quarter. The camper declined and called the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.On December 30th, Detective Richard Roth was dispatched to investigate.
