Stepping Out: Stepping Out

Sometime in late 1973 or very early 1974 my dad took me shopping for a stereo, if memory serves. We got our Zenith Allegro Series I, Model GR587W from E. J. Korvette. It was a wonderful gift! It had a turntable, radio and 8-track tape player/recorder. I could now record in stereo! In addition to recording collections of my favorite tunes on 8-track, I began recording friends as we improvised comedy. We would gather in my basement usually after a Sunday church session. I decorated our comedy 8-tracks with Ugly Stickers. This third selection from our 8-track "Stepping Out" features Greg Miller, Mickey Strejc, Matt Anthony and myself. We used the Scott Joplin tune "The Entertainer" from "The Sting" movie soundtrack. "The Sting" was released December 25, 1973. I labeled this 8-track with the year 1973 but recordings were made in 1974 as well. Mickey states that the date is Sept. 22 but he doesn't mention the year. I now believe that the date was September 22, 1974 because "The Sting" hadn't yet been released in September of 1973.
