Stepping Up Together: 'Everyday the Labor Party is justifying opening new coal mines and gas wells, it's obscene' - Greens Senator Janet Rice

from Climate Conversations · host Robert McLean

Politicians were something of a rarity at the Saturday, September 9, "Stepping Up Together" forum at the Melbourne Town Hall, but the one who did show and delivered a powerful message was Victorian Greens Senator, Janet Rice (pictured). Senator Rice described as "obscene" the Labor Party's constant justification of its push to open new coal mines and sink new gas wells, or back the gas fracking process. About 70 people sat through and enjoyed the three-hour forum that attempted to pull together disparate environment groups in a bid to draw up a joint statement of intent and hopefully, both shift and advance the climate conversation.
