Ep 36 - Steve Lozano’s Vitaes.com: Creating Choices for Young People of Color
Steve Lozano is the founder of Vitaes, an online education company that provides online career guidance through informational interviews featuring professionals of color. Steve decided to create Vitaes because of his own experience as a young person who had no one to turn to as he tried to find a career. Examples of the people featured on Vitaes.com include the Education Manager of Sesame Workshop (Sesame Street), a Walmart General Counsel, a Chief of Police, and executives from other companies such as Microsoft, Starbucks, and Facebook. Prior to beginning Vitaes.com, Steve was a bank executive at some of the largest financial institutions for over 30 years. Steve is retired and a board member of the Greater Seattle YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. During my conversation with Steve, we learn about his ongoing experience with imposter syndrome, about the prejudice he experienced as a banker, about why he launched Vitaes.com, and his biggest vision for Vitaes.
