Steve Perkins: Practical Strategies for Busy Lives - Achieve Balance and Fulfillment

from Space for Life

My special guest is Steve Perkins Meet Steve Perkins, a friend with a passion for living a life of purpose without sacrificing his family and faith. Growing up in Michigan with a love for sports and music, Steve wrestled with questions like, What do I want to be when I grow up?, driving him to begin a journey of introspection and growth. Despite stepping into the world of engineering, his focus never strayed from his desire to help others find their purpose - a mission that ultimately led him to entrepreneurial success. His conviction to maintaining balance in life, relationships, and faith reflect his belief that a purposeful life should never be at the expense of our personal wellbeing. Balance is about knowing our own capacity and setting right-sized expectations for ourselves. It's not about comparing ourselves to others. - Steve Perkins In this episode, you will be able to: Timestamped summary of this episode: 00:00:05 - Introduction, 00:03:21 - Finding Purpose, 00:09:56 - Meeting Tommy Thompson, 00:13:17 - Balancing Life and Entrepreneurship, 00:16:34 - Believing in Possibility, 00:19:06 - Comparing and Judging Ourselves, 00:22:26 - Self-Awareness and Right-Sized Expectations, 00:24:37 - The Power of Systems, 00:29:24 - Shaping Your Life, 00:33:17 - Experimenting with Systems for Success, 00:34:06 - Vision Guides Decisions, 00:35:28 - Balancing Faith and Personal Goals, 00:39:12 - The Power of Vision and Choice, 00:42:41 - Implementing Rhythms and Systems, 00:49:10 - Ditching the Posture of Obligation, 00:50:57 - The Power of Weekly Planning, 00:54:01 - Plan Once, Let It Run, 00:57:14 - Prioritizing Relationships, 01:00:13 - Taking the Holistic Approach, www.Greenhouse.co

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
