Still Nigga

Today, I saw an ad. John Legend. His family. Target.And I scrolled to the comments. And somebody wrote: "House slave."I understood the frustration. The community has a right to be frustrated. But "house slave"? That's the wrong word. And today, I'm going to tell you why. Because the language we use either frees us or keeps us enslaved. And when we use the wrong words, when we reach back into the most painful chapter of our history and misapply it, we erase the actual horror of what our ancestors experienced.
