Still Spinning on 05.15.24

from The Still Spinning Podcast · host Dan Deibert / Nicole Devin

Hello and welcome to episode 53 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We appreciate you checking us out.   The Northern Lights were visible in MANY areas that usually cannot see them over the past weekend; did you check them out? What did the Dan Deibert Weather Center think about them? Were they visible in Chicago? We chat about this and who is likely pretty angry that they were visible to us in the US.   A man in California was asked (told he had to by his neighborhood association) to put up a fence so that his boat would no longer be visible to the neighbors, and his solution was genius. He put up the fence all right and then hired an artist to paint on that fence. If you watch, and not just listen, you will get to see the artwork he put up. He has got a lot of attention for his solution. Dan shares a kinda similar story about a couple and an RV park that is not to be missed. Petty? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely.   A woman exited prison and immediately tried to steal a car but something stopped her. Cops? Nope. An anti-theft device? Nope. It was a stick shift. This leads to a conversation about stick shifts, carjacking, and pizza delivery. We also delve into driving in Europe and Nicole uses the term "heathens" as part of the explanation for why the UK drives on the "other" side of the road. Dan's reaction is one for the ages.   Speaking of drivers, Chicago has just made the Forbes list as one of the WORST cities for drivers. Well DUH. Dan shares some summer plans he has and the things he will do, and pay, to avoid driving through Chicago. Nicole shares everyday life on the roads in Chi-town.   And finally, McDonald's has announced they are launching a new $5 meal deal. We discuss the meal, the current state of the local McD's and what we suspect will happen with the deal.   Tune in for all of this and more! You can find merch and sponsor opportunities on our website, stillspinningpodcast.com. Thanks so much for listening!
