Stop Treating Every Decision as Life or Death. A Conversation with Alana Mbanza

from Create Your Reality · host Lynn Crocker

This week I talked with Alana Mbanza about learning to move fearlessly through the decision making process. I touched on this topic a bit in my conversation with Stephen Guize (October 29. 2012), but I thought a deeper dive would be helpful to listeners because as a coach, I find that so many of my clients are frozen in a place of indecisiveness making them feel helpless, powerless and stuck. Alana identified that the root of indecisiveness is not necessarily having too many choices, but rather the FEAR of making the wrong decision. The emotion of fear is linked to our survival and when faced with a life or death situation it is very useful in protecting us. But most of the decisions that we make day in and day out are not true life of death situations. Some have farther-reaching consequences than others, but chances are likely you will not die if you make one decision over another. Alana and I discuss a few tips on how to move through fear to a place of decisiveness and how to quiet the critical voice that usually crops up after you have made a decision.
