Today I want to talk to you about Good News From The Storm. 1. You don’t have to be afraid of the storm Mark 4:38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (NIV) Mark 4:39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. (NIV) A. Get us through with his presence Mark 4:36 After they had dismissed the crowd, they took Jesus with them, since He was already in the boat. And there were other boats with Him. (BSB) B. Get us through with this word. Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practiceis like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  25  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  26  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  27  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (NIV) C. GET US THROUGH WITH HIS POWER Mark 4:40-41 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41  They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (NIV) 2. Jesus is developing your faith through storms. Mark 4:40-41 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41  They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (NIV) James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, [a]  whenever you face trials of many kinds,  3  because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (NIV) 3. Jesus will get you to the other side of the storm Mark 4:35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” (NIV) Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (NIV)
