Kids, you all know that every year children who show immense valour are awarded the National Bravery Awards. Ketu malik is a 14 year old boy from Odisha. The place where he stayed was near a small creek. Like every night his uncle Binod Malik returned home from work. He had his dinner and then decided to wash his hands in the water of the creek. As soon as Binod Malik put his hands in the water, a crocodile which was lying underwater quickly grabbed his hand and try to pull him underwater. Did you know children that every year approximately 1000 human beings are killed by crocodiles worldwide? The two species which are prone to attack are the Nile crocodile and the saltwater crocodile. The saltwater crocodiles are mainly found in the Indian subcontinent. And since in this case there was a small creek which had salt water, the crocodile attack would have been fatal. Do you know Steve Irwin? He was a famous wildlife enthusiast from Australia. He grew up in an animal farm and was fascinated by animals and their lives. He was an anchor of the famous show Crocodile Hunter which was very famous on television. In fact, he used to go searching for crocodiles and would find fearlessly catch them. Let's resume today's story. Vinod Malik started shouting for help. Setu Malik who was standing nearby did not panic. In fact, he used a torch in his hand to distract the animal by focusing on the crocodile's eyes. But the animal did not leave his uncle Binod. Next, he took a bamboo stick lying nearby and and hit it hard on the head of the crocodile. The crocodile struck with a strong blow, lost the grip of Vinod's hand and slipped in the water. Setu carried his wounded uncle safely to the side. Binod Malik was taken to the hospital and treated for the wound.
