Story Time - Week 1
from Grand Valley Church Hosted by Grand Valley Church
In the first message of the "Story Time" series, we explore identity, comparison, and the voices that shape how we see ourselves through the lens of Max Lucado’s story You Are Special. The story follows Punchinello, a small wooden person covered in gray dots, who believes he has failed and doesn’t measure up—until he meets his Maker, Eli. Through this powerful illustration, we’re reminded that the labels placed on us by others, our past, or even ourselves were never meant to define us. Drawing from Scripture, we’re challenged to consider who truly gets to tell us who we are. In a culture of comparison and quick judgment, God invites us to trust His voice above all others. True identity is found not in performance or approval, but in relationship with Jesus, who offers us new names, new hope, and freedom from condemnation.
