Storyteller's Night Sky 2025-11-12 (The Moon's Mystery and Meteors)
from WVBI Podcasts · host WVBI
On Wednesday the Moon comes to its Last Quarter, and so many things converge! Wednesday is November 12th, and overnight Tuesday to Wednesday is the peak of the Northern Taurid Meteor Shower, which radiates into the night from near the star cluster of the Pleiades, in the constellation Taurus, the Bull. Take note that this meteor shower is known to produce fireballs! I make it a practice to consider celestial phenomena like this in nine-month rhythms, because nine months is the amount of time in a healthy human gestation and I’ve found that looking at things through this lens can reveal a lot. Said more esoterically, nine months marks the final step in the soul’s incarnation process of descending from one’s star all the way to the physical world ~ as Plato described it in his Timeaus. From the vicinity of one’s star, the soul gathers rhythmic forces from the planetary spheres until a physical conception occurs and one arrives at the Moon sphere, to weave the starry, planetary forces into the physical body as it is carried by the mother. An amazing process. It's notable that every Last Quarter Moon will be in the same place in the zodiac where the Moon will come to New Phase nine months later. This is such a harmonious rhythm, and there is evidence that this was known in Ancient Egyptian culture, and used to guide their star knowledge in relation to souls coming to birth, but the wisdom practice of one age often becomes the mythology of a later age. Now, back to this week. The Last Quarter Moon is Wednesday, same day as the peak of the Northern Taurid Meteor Shower. Nine months later, om August 12th, the Moon will come to New Phase in the same spot, and it will be the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower. Such a happy coincidence! And there’s more. In the cycle of Feast Days, November 12 is observed as the Feast of St. Aemilianus, from the 6th century in Spain. There is a monastery in northern where he is buried, and get this! November 12 is the Last Quarter Moon on his Feast Day, and nine months later, when the Moon comes to New Phase in the same place in the zodiac, it will cause a Total Solar Eclipse that will cast its shadow right over the monastery where Aemilianus is buried! Another amazing coincidence! So casting wishes to the falling stars this week may yield a happy outcome nine months from now, and a nod to Aemelianus can’t hurt. Rightly understood, a “saint” is someone who has achieved something on behalf of humanity, in total selflessness. When such a person dies, they carry these gifts back to the celestial spiritual world at a specific degree of the zodiac where we can experience it year after year through the ages as the Sun goes by. For Aemilianus, his deeds receive the exclamation point of a meteor shower! This week, and next August when his bones are cast in shadow by eclipse, but not to be outdone by the strength of the Perseid Meteor Shower that will be active then. Mary Stewart Adams
