After earning his Culinary Arts Degree from San Francisco City College and completing his internship at Delfina restaurant, Chef Ball believes that Gumbo is the most essential food in American culture. When Mr. Gumbo isn’t cooking his award-winning Gumbo, he raises his teenage twin sons. In addition, he serves as VP of the Bayview Merchants Association and as Delegate for the Bayview Council of District Merchants Association in San Francisco. Working in the underserved Bayview Hunter’s Point neighborhood in San Francisco, Armstrong is the Founder of the Primed & Prepped: A Hospitality Management/Culinary Arts Mentoring and Job Training Program at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA. The program aims to help mitigate the barriers to employment for young males and females of color.
