She has advocated for families and children her entire life. She says, "It is all about empowering people to advocate for themselves, to create the social justice and social change needed to change the world."  Her accomplishments are broad. She was District Vice President of the YMCA and raised over $8.5 million for the Bayview YMCA capital campaign. As the Chief Executive Officer of the Children's Council of San Francisco, she managed a staff of 140+ and oversaw a 236 million dollar budget to support children, families, and early educators. Most recently, she was CEO of the San Francisco Education Fund, directing community volunteer programs, educator grants, and student scholarships to help public school students succeed. She is currently the President and CEO of Glide Foundation. The San Francisco-based consultant is a "connector" who has worked in many industries and has an outgoing, enthusiastic personality that magnetizes people to her. With more than 25 years of experience in image consulting and public relations, Armstrong enjoys helping people "be their best, by looking and feeling their best" in body and spirit by advising about skincare, makeup, grooming, overall personal appearance, presentation skills, and job readiness training, she retired after teaching twenty-two years in the Fashion Department at City College of San Francisco. Working in the underserved Bayview Hunter’s Point neighborhood in San Francisco, Armstrong is the Founder of the Primed & Prepped: A Hospitality Management/Culinary Arts Mentoring and Job Training Program at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA.
