Straightened to Praise - Fr. Micah - December 5, 2021

from Holy Trinity + Holy Cross - Sermons · host Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral

Today, on the 10th Sunday of Luke, the Gospel reading comes from Luke 13:10-17. In this pericope, Jesus encounters a woman with a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years. She was bent over unable to straighten herself. Fr. Micah shares a practical message which frees us from our infirmities and allows us to see others and pray with wings. First, we must do as the woman does and come to church. Secondly, we must attune ourselves to hearing God's voice through humility. And finally, just as Christ touched the woman to heal her, we must trust, He touches us today completely and fully through the sacramental life of the Church. Orthodox Christians should praise God daily for straightening our bent lives allowing us to see the heavens and others.
