Psalms 16:11 [11]Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. SERVICE OBJECTIVE(S): Understanding the place of joy in the life of the child of God 1. **Source and Duration:** - Happiness is often linked to external circumstances and is temporary, arising from positive events or experiences. Joy, on the other hand, stems from an internal state of contentment and can endure even in the midst of challenging situations. 1 Timothy 6:6 [6]But godliness with contentment is great gain. James 1:2-4 [2]My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; [3]Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. [4]But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 2. **Depth and Fulfillment:** - Happiness tends to be more surface-level and is associated with pleasure and satisfaction. Joy, however, runs deeper, encompassing a sense of peace, purpose, and spiritual fulfillment. Romans 15:13 [13]Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Proverbs 15:13,16 [13]A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
