There is a strength to be gained for the child of God. But listen to this very closely. This strength is not meant to be had for you only when you have no strength. It is for every day, every moment of our lives. Being strengthened in the LORD is for when we have no strength, true. But it is also true that in our flesh, we have no strength. If you are not a child of God, a believer in Christ, then you need to know that you are like the women and children who were kidnapped and held hostage in this passage. But like David, there is a greater husband who came to rescue his bride. His name is Jesus, who gave himself up for His bride the church, for all those who would repent of their sin and turn to him for redemption and life.
