Strike A Pose FX Review Ep 2  Rainbow Blak explores ground breaking television series POSE which focuses on the Black transgender experience in the 1980's and the glitz, glam, culture famed for blue printing Voguing as we know it today.  The show gives a nod to earlier documentations of the Black & Hispanic transgender Ball culture scene seen in the famous Rupaul’s Drag Race & "Paris Is Burning " film which gives a delicious insight to the origins of fashion, dance poses, styles, music, catchphrases and fabulous attitudes birthed right in the heart of New Yorks LGBTQ scene. POSE is not just about the sparkle it serves up all the underline issues that transgender and LGBTQ people face in their daily lives through the lens of central characters its gives us the heartache that comes with trying to find your place in a heterosexual society. Characters face being displaced by family members, friend’s lovers, society and even LGBTQ people who don't see them has being part of the gay community. Writers go in hard exploring the fetishsization of transgender women by heterosexual men that are deeply closeted and the painful loss of lovers and friends taken by the HIV epidemic which was rife, claiming many lives. This show is unapologetic exploring the affects of being rejected by family, lovers it explores mental health, substance misuse and sex working to survive in an unforgiving society. Rainbow Blak also shares her vast experiences of working to support LGBTQI people for over a decade in London U.K and globally giving her take on the show.  Lookout for special musik features by Rainbow Blak inspired by the amazing 80's musik score featured throughout POSE.
