Strike averted: Warwick Hotel workers reach agreement with management

from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand

Workers at Center City's Warwick Hotel will stay on the job after reaching a new contract with hotel management. It happened just hours before the midnight strike deadline, according to Unite Here Local 274. Members unanimously ratified the deal today. The new contract boosts wages to $30 per hour for non-tipped employees, improves access to health care for dependents and adds new protections for immigrant workers. The Warwick joins five other hotels, including the Hampton Inn Center City and Wyndham Historic District, in reaching new contracts with the union. Meanwhile, workers at the Sheraton Downtown hotel on 17th and Race streets are on strike for a fifth day. (photo credit: Shara Dae Howard/KYW Newsradio)
