Strong in the Lord

from Insights Your Daily Word For Daily Living · host thelondonchristianradio

There was once a woman named Esther who was known for her gentle smile and quiet strength. Many admired her, but few knew the storms she had weathered—losing a child, battling illness, and holding her family together through financial hardship. When asked how she did it, she simply said, “I’ve learned to lean on strength that isn’t mine.” This is the essence of Paul’s exhortation in Ephesians 6:10: “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” It’s not about being emotionally tough or pretending to have it all together. It’s about tapping into the endless strength of the One who never grows weary. We see this kind of strength in David before he faced Goliath. He didn’t rely on Saul’s armor or his own skills. Instead, he declared, “The battle is the Lord’s.” (1 Samuel 17:47). David was young, but he was strong in the Lord. His confidence wasn’t in himself—it was in God’s power working through him. Spiritual strength begins where self-reliance ends. When life feels overwhelming, our call is not to try harder but to stand firmer—in Christ. His Word, His Spirit, and His promises are our strength. And when we walk in His might, we can face challenges with peace, courage, and unwavering hope.
