Struggling With Politics From Behind My Screen

from The Renegade Writer's Mouthy Musings · host The Mouthy Renegade Writer

S2E53: The Renegade Writer’s Mouthy MusingsHey, Happy Saturday to you all. I hope you’re doing well and feeling wonderful. I’m having a rollercoaster mental health day, today. I feel pretty shitty at the moment.Things started decently. Coffee, Mooch, checking my Substack stuff. Reading comments on my articles, smiling at some funny ones. That part of the day always goes well. But I knew that I was going to write about the Zelensky/Trump confrontation at some point. I’d posted several memes about it yesterday and they took off like wildfire. When something big happens in American politics, I generally write an article about it. I don’t get joy from reporting the fuckery of Traitor Trump. It brings me down, in fact. But I got it done. The article is up. And with it, came the comments. Ditto on social media. A lot of people are suddenly political experts and have strong, differing opinions on the topic. Most are being dicks toward each other. It gets old. I realize that the less time I spend in front of screens, the happier I seem to be. But screens are a necessary evil in my line of work. Especially when I’m trying to build a following. I love what I do, but the topics I cover bring me down. I’ll tell you all about it in today’s podcast episode. Thanks for listening, it helps me to verbalize my feelings and vent a bit. I appreciate you all being a metaphorical shoulder to cry on when necessary. If you also get overwhelmed with non-stop political BS, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. Your kind support makes it possible for me to publish my work daily. Thank you! Get full access to You Have the Right to Remain Mouthy at themouthyrenegadewriter.substack.com/subscribe
