White In New York inside an ordinary house the Little family welcomed a child He was very small he looked like a mouse but he could speak and read and he wore human clothes The parents were not afraid they gave him a name Stuart Little Every morning he sat at the table using tiny dishes to eat breakfast His mother fixed his collar his father prepared his coat George sat nearby watching his small brother In this house Stuart was treated as a real child But the world did not change for him Door handles were far above his head stairs rose like walls and turning pages could almost knock him over The way to school was long the streets stretched beneath his feet cars passed by their noise filled the air At home he learned to use scissors and to tie knots simple tasks took a long time Not because he was clumsy but because the world was built for larger people One day a small bird landed on the window She rested on the frame fixing feathers tangled by the wind Stuart stood on the windowsill and looked up at her They talked through the glass and from that day on Margalo often returned She stayed for a long while telling him about the outside world She spoke of high winds of rooftops across the city and of flying far away Stuart listened and remembered every word When Margalo was there the room no longer felt so small Then one day she did not come back Only wind remained and an empty sky Stuart waited at the window for a long time Margalo was gone without leaving an answer After that Stuart often stood by the window The room stayed the same but he could no longer rest there Before long he made a decision He would go out to look for her He dressed himself and put on his hat His mother placed a coin into his pocket His father opened the door The street was wide cars rushed past Stuart boarded a small boat the water rose and fell The wind blew straight toward him The boat moved forward slowly the city faded behind him Stuart sat in the boat looking ahead The road was still long He moved on前往小宇宙评论区与主播互动
