Stuart Watts: Rowing the Atlantic and breaking a world record

from The Outdoors Fix

My guest today is Stuart Watts - he and three friends hold the world record for the fastest rowing crossing of the Atlantic! Along with George Biggar, Dicky Taylor and Peter Robinson, Stuart rowed for almost a month from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean, finishing in January 2018. And they raised a HUGE amount for charity - I’ll reveal the figure later on in the podcast! Stuart had never really rowed before agreeing to the challenge but he believes that if you put your mind to something, you CAN achieve it. He has some pretty terrifying stories from the row and answers lots of burning questions: How big were the waves? What wildlife did he come across? What did they eat? How did they know where they were going? How hard was it? Stuart also has lots of tips for anyone contemplating a big physical challenge in the outdoors. * The Outdoors Fix is a podcast hosted and produced by Liv Bolton @liv_outsideuk
