He is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the University of Michigan. Winchester grew up in Michigan. He began skiing as a teenager, exploring the state’s many ski areas before moving to New York in 2002. He is a member of the New York Ski Museum and Hall of Fame board of directors, and a member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
