Hello, welcome back to another episode of Broken Record. My name is Ellie. I'm your host and that was just falling behind by Leyva and I thought it would be fun to do an episode of songs that have been stuck in my head for the past couple of weeks because we just got back from winter break and I listened to a lot of music and therefore had a lot of music stuck in my head. So one of the artists I've been listening to a lot over the break is Leyva.
She is an Icelandic singer. She mainly does jazz and it is so beautiful and amazing. I recommend looking her up if you haven't heard her or her music. It's incredible.
I love listening to it and the song I just played far behind is how I discovered Leyva. I heard that song online and I loved it and so I started listening to that song and a bunch of other songs that she has released. So definitely look up Leyva if you can. She's awesome and she's actually going on tour.
I believe her tour starts in April this year and it's gonna be super fun. She's going all around in North America and I believe she's going to other countries as well. But I know for sure she's going to North to coming to America because she's stopping in Seattle and I really want to go to the concert. I don't have tickets yet, but hopefully when the time comes I will get them and it'll be awesome.
But yeah, that was just falling behind by Leyva and next I want to play a Noah Khan song because I love Noah Khan and his songs are just really amazing and catchy and the next song is one of my favorite Noah Khan songs and it is called Northern Attitude. I love Northern Attitude. It is such a good song and Noah Khan actually has been doing a lot of collaborations recently and one of the songs that he did a collaboration on is Northern Attitude. He re-released Northern Attitude with a feature on it, Hozer featured on this song and it is incredible.
I recommend listening to it if you can. It's really beautiful and so pretty and their voices sound beautiful together. I love listening to it so much. So yeah, definitely check it out if you can.
And the next song I want to talk about is by Miss Renee Rapp. Renee Rapp is a musical feeder turned pop star amazing actress person and she is amazing. She recently went on tour and I was very lucky enough to go see her when she came to Seattle and one of the songs she played on that tour is called Willow. And I didn't know the song very well beforehand, but I listened to it after hearing it live in concert and it is just amazing.
I love listening to it and the chorus is always stuck in my head. I like just like at random points the day I'll start singing and I'll be like, wow, like I wasn't even thinking of Renee, but like that just popped up in my head. It's very catchy, very fun and I love listening to it. And Renee Rapp actually is starting a movie that is coming out soon.
I believe it's January 12th is when it's released. It's Mean Girls. She plays Regina George, which is very fitting because I mentioned earlier that she was on Broadway and the role she played on Broadway was Regina George in Mean Girls Musical. So she already has experience in the role and I'm very excited to see how she does this role in movie format versus on stage format.
So it'll be interesting and exciting. But for now, let's just listen to this song that I absolutely adore. It is called Willow. That was just Willow by Renee Rapp and if we're talking about one pop star, we have to talk about another.
So I want to talk about Olivia Rodrigo. She also is going on tour very soon. She's coming to North America. And I believe she's released UK Europe tour dates as well, but I'm not 100% sure.
But I'm really excited to see her on tour. I was very, very lucky to be able to see her on the sour tour that she did last year, two years ago. I don't exactly remember, but I was very lucky to go because I remember there was a bunch of like the day tickets were going on sale. Like people were waiting like four hours to get into buy the tickets and like it was the whole fiasco and there was like, no, there was everything was sold out.
Everything was so expensive. It was just a whole mess because I love Olivia Rodrigo, but she wanted to play smaller venues than what she is like, then what would have been a good size for her because it was her first official tour. Like as a recording artist, it was her first tour. And so she wanted to have the experience of like performing in smaller venues and then build herself up to larger venues if she has a chance.
And so for her first tour, she performed in a lot of venues that were too small for like her fan base in each city. And so it was very hard to get tickets because she would be playing in like a 10,000 person venue when she could be playing like a 15, 20,000 person venue. So like it just kind of depended on what city you were in if she was like, if it was a good time to go see her. But luckily I was able to get tickets and I got to go and I'm very excited to see her again.
I'm going in August, I believe, as when she's in Seattle, but yes, guts world tour is happening and I'm very excited to see it. But for now, let's listen to get him back and then we can imagine what it will be like hearing it live. I love that song. I think it's so fun.
Olivia did a live performance of this song. I believe on BBC and she performed it and there was a clip of hers that went viral where she was singing the lyric that the guy was missing a screw. And I remember like seeing that on basically every single video I saw that week because everyone was just obsessed with like the way she sang it, which I totally understand it was very fun, very sassy. So I recommend looking up that performance, get him back by Olivia Rodrigo.
I believe it was on BBC, but I'm not 100% sure. So don't quote me on that. But yes, it's very amazing. I love her.
Olivia Rodrigo. I can't wait to see what happens next for her because I truly believe she deserves it. She seems very sweet and kind and someone who is not touring with their band anymore, but is a part of an iconic band is Stevie. Thanks.
And the band sure is part of if you did not know, but I hope I hope I hope you too. She was a part of Fleetwood Mac and I absolutely adore Fleetwood Mac. I think they are such an incredible band. I love listening to the music.
It makes me so happy. And yeah, I love them so much. And so the next song I'm going to play is obviously a Fleetwood Mac song and it's called Silver Springs. I recently discovered this song when I believe when I was watching Daisy Jones in the six because there's a performance of Fleetwood Mac performing Silver Springs and it like there was drama going on.
I think Stevie dated one of the band members and then they broke up and shoot. This was kind of like her revenge song. And so that went viral and I believe that like the video of that performance was some sort of inspiration for Daisy Jones in the six, which is about a band into a member, selling in and out of love. And so I love this song.
I love listening to it. It makes me really happy. And it's so fun. So here's Silver Springs, Life Fleetwood Mac.
Now over the break, I got to see a concert and I'm so excited I did because it actually was a somewhat unconscious tradition that my family made. We went to go see Macklemore, which was super cool, super fun. He had a lot of energy and it was very entertaining to walk and perform, but we saw him perform on December 23rd and I believe like five, six years ago, we also saw him perform on December 23rd for his Gemini tour. And so now he's doing the Ben tour and he did a home show in Seattle and we were very lucky to be able to go and it was so fun.
It was in climate pledge arena, which is a great venue for concerts. It is truly incredible and I love listening to it. And I love that Macklemore did a home show because Macklemore is from Seattle and so he obviously has a lot of knowledge about the area and he had a lot of fun Easter eggs and like tidbits about growing up in Seattle and like including Seattle and his concert and it was really good. We brought out Garfield Garfield High School's band.
They came out and performed a song with him, which was really cool. And there was just a bunch of like he was wearing a bunch of like Seattle Team Jersey's like he wore a song. It's he wore a storm. He wore a crack and like there was just a bunch of Seattle hints and nods during the concert and it was really fun to like be on the lookout for it.
It's super cool. So if you ever have the chance of your ever in Seattle and Macklemore is who I recommend going to that concert because I can guarantee that energy will be amazing. So as we always do I talk about an artist and I play song. So here's No Bad Days by Macklemore.
No Bad Days. Obviously a very fun song that was just no bad days by Macklemore and it was very fun to hear live. It was really cool and everyone was just so excited and having the time of their lives. And it was very fun to see.
But moving on we're going to play kind of a slower song now. It is called Sea of Love. I absolutely adore this song. I think it's so pretty and amazing and it's kind of an older song.
So like it doesn't really fit the hip-hop vibe that we were just playing with Macklemore, but I think it's so beautiful and amazing. And I have to play it. So here's Sea of Love. I love that song so much.
It's so amazing. So beautiful. I love harmonies in it. It's so pretty and this song is just always stuck in my head.
It's so beautiful. I keep coming back to it and I love listening to it. The next song I want to play is by Niall Horne because Niall was a host on the voice this past season and he actually won this season. He is two for two.
He's won both seasons that he's been a part of on the voice and it was so fun to see it happen and the finale was the week before Christmas. And it was really fun to watch. It was really amazing talent. I feel like a lot of the time for the voice.
There's like a very clear winner. Like it's like there's like kind of like good singers and then there's like the singer that like everyone keeps talking about. But I feel like this season it was pretty even. There was a lot of talent.
Ruby Lee specifically. So amazing. I love her so much. She like was kind of known for like yodeling on the voice.
Like she I believe in her audition in the blind. I should she yodled and so that immediately like set her apart from everyone and she was just so talented. And then Mara Justine was also another really impressive contestant that was ace and I loved listening to her. There's a specific performance of her that she did on the voice.
She covered lose control and I it's just incredible performance. I love watching it and listening to it. So if you have some free time, such a Mara Justine lose control of the voice on YouTube and please watch the video because it is insane. It's amazing and I love just the energy she brings that performance.
But those two unfortunately did not win. They were both really good and I love them. But Nile one with Huntley and Huntley is this like gnarly like husky singer. Like he he has like a growl in his voice, but it's not really girl.
I don't know how to describe it. But there's just like a rawness in his voice and it's so amazing and talented and so cool. And he is just such a great winner to have because he's so talented and I love listening to him. But for now we're going to play one of now some more recent songs and it is just called Heaven.
Okay, that was just Heaven by Nile Horan. And unfortunately that was the last song of this episode. So thank you so much for tuning in. My name is Ellie.
