Adva is a self-proclaimed IEP kid. “Having an IEP doesn’t mean students will struggle their whole life,“ said Adva. Even with this positive attitude as an adult, she struggled all throughout school and felt as though she was not understood by her teachers. In the mist of getting her two bachelor degrees and soon after to earn her Master’s Degree, she found and read one of her IEP’s from high school. Adva talks to you about the areas of her learning that once troubled her but now excels in and those areas that she still is mindful of. This is a heartfelt story that reminds us that what we write about our students and the importance of connecting with our students who struggle learning makes a difference in their childhood and beyond.
