Im Auftrag der Feuerwehr Wettingen entwickelten sieben Studierende des Studiengangs Informatik im Rahmen ihrer Projektarbeit während zwei Semestern eine Simulations-Software, welche Hubretter-Führern als Trainingstool dienen soll. Mit Hilfe von Java 3D modellierten sie den Hubretter und die virtuelle Umgebung mit Häuser und Strassen. Der konstruierte Rettungskorb kann bis zu 33 Metern ausgefahren werden und wird über zwei Joysticks gesteuert. Durch eine als Ziel platzierte Fahne wird der zu rettende Mensch simuliert. Dem User stehen drei mögliche Perspektiven zur Verfügung. Die Ansicht vom Fahrzeug aus, aus dem ausfahrenden Korb sowie die Aussenansicht. Skills in der Projektarbeit waren Requirement Engineering, das Programmieren der Software Simulation mit Java und 3D Computer Graphic, Software Architecture und Software Design. Das Projekt wurde erfolgreich umgesetzt und die Simulationssoftware findet Anwendung im alltäglichen Training von Feuerwehrleuten.
