On July 4, 2026, the White House Domestic Policy Council published a 162-page report accusing the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History of erasing the nation’s heritage. Days earlier and an ocean away, thieves took roughly €4 million of René Lalique crystal from a French museum: glass that, unlike the Louvre’s stolen crown jewels, cannot be melted down or sold.
