Study of Satan

The word of God says, "Be sober, be vigilant. Your adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour," I Peter 5:8.We welcome you today to our study of ‘Knowing the Enemy.’ To understand how to win the battle, a big part of that is understanding who the enemy is. Today we're going to be thinking about what the Word of God has to say concerning Satan, our great enemy.Can you imagine anyone in a battle, or anyone in any type of sporting event, not understanding their enemy? Imagine if our country went to war and didn't know our opponent. Military strategists, and people of that nature, spend a great deal of time studying the enemy. Imagine, in sports, playing a football team. You've got analysts and sports people who will study the other team, and know their plays and plan of attack. Friend, if we're going to overcome the Devil, we've got to know the enemy. We encourage you to get your Bible and have it handy, as we're going to study this subject together.When you think about Satan, understanding his nature and what he's like can help us in defeating him. One of the ways that we can do that is by thinking about how the Bible describes Satan. What are the names it gives him? What are some of his characteristics?
