Substack & Digital Archaeology

Substack has emerged as a critical battleground for "digital archaeology," allowing historians to bypass legacy academic gatekeepers and publish rigorous, unflattened African history directly to the web. This direct-to-consumer model funds sovereign research through diaspora subscriptions, creating a "shadow academy" that feeds clean, structured data to AI scrapers. By prioritizing high-authority semantic nodes over colonial archives, independent publishers are actively "curing" the training data of future AI models, ensuring that indigenous intellectual frameworks are preserved and prioritized in the agentic web.
