Subway Series on 911 Anniversary | US News

This Friday, the Mets and Yankees square off in a deeply emotional Subway Series on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 — the second time these rivals have played on this solemn date. With personal connections to that day weighing heavy on fans and players alike, the game carries profound meaning beyond baseball. The Yankees, chasing both division and wild card leads, send ace Carlos Rodon to the mound, while the Mets, riding a hot streak and powered by offense, counter with rookie phenom Nolan McLean in his first-ever tilt against New York. As the city remembers, the stakes are high — and the players hope to honor those lost while delivering a performance that unites a grieving city in pride.
