Sudan revamps its pyramids to build up tourism
from General Podcast · host Channel Africa
Sudan is hoping that its ancient civilisations could help build up its tourism industry after the US lifted sanctions just last month. While pyramids are normally associated with neighbouring Egypt, there is a larger collection of more than two hundred and thirty in Sudan. Archeologists are still discovering ancient sites around the country, pointing at civilisations that flourished thousands of years ago. But it is Sudan's young population who are leading the charge, rediscovering a once forgotten history. The BBC's Tomi Oladipo met some of them in the ancient city of Meroë. (ME-row-wee).
