Summer Jams- Everybody Hurts
from Genesis Church Phoenix Hosted by Genesis Church
If you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on. The melody and the singing make you think it's a sad song, until you listen closely to the lyrics. Instead, Hurts is a song of encouragement, hope and an anti-suicide anthem simply aimed at teenagers. You know what? It actually works! Many people have contacted the band to tell them how the song changed their lives. The song talks about connection, and our need to realize that everyone goes through the tough stuff - so we shouldn't give up! That's pretty good news, but not quite the real Good News. We are going to look at several responses of desperate people in history and how they sought out hope and meaning in their lives and how it's similar, or different, from R.E.M.'s message to hurting teens.
