Summer Meals Keep Kids Fed
from Houston News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Summer hunger hits hard in Harris County as over 633,000 kids lose access to free school meals — but the Houston Food Bank is stepping in with a massive summer feeding effort. From June 8 to August 7, they’re serving free, nutritious meals to kids up to 18 and young adults with disabilities up to 21 at 150+ sites, plus 10 new rural grab-and-go locations. With 12,000 meals daily and a focus on food insecurity affecting 1 in 5 children, this program bridges the gap when school’s out. Volunteers, food, and donations are urgently needed — and families can even get connected to nearby food pantries. Support the show:Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
