Today we are finishing up our Summer Playlist. Summer Playlist Title I want to thank Ron Muller for preaching to us last week. We’ve reached the final message of our Summer Playlist series. Over the past few weeks, we’ve talked about peace, rest, identity, and purpose… But let’s be honest: Even with all that truth, many of us are still walking out of these messages with the same underlying question: Is there still Hope for me? “What if it’s too late for me?”“What if my story can’t recover?”“Is there still hope for someone like me?” It’s a question that doesn’t always show up in words—but it shows up in a quiet sigh, passive prayers, low expectations, and bummed out numbed-out living. Christians may not admit they are feeling hopeless… But you can see when they have GIVEN UP.Not really trying… going through the motions. Not diving in… treading water… Life is not progressing…Not joyful…Not successful, growing, learning… If this is you, be honest and admit you need some HOPE. I PROMISE YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Let’s talk about the world we’re living in for a second. Because this question—“Is there still hope?”—isn’t just personal. It’s generational. 📊 More than 1 in 3 adults under 35 regularly feel hopeless. (CDC)📊 71% of Gen Z say they feel anxious about the future and unsure how to build a stable life. (Barna, 2023)📊 Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people ages 10–34. (CDC) We have a generation that is giving up. Let’s zoom out: 🌍 Ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.📉 Economic stress and inflation making everything harder—from gas to groceries.🏠 Skyrocketing housing prices—young adults are struggling to ever buy a home.💊 Cancer, emotional distress, and other health issues on the rise🛂 Immigration tensions stirring political fear and division.🤖 AI and automation making entire industries uncertain. Our generation is staring down instability on every front—from global headlines to private heartache. No wonder we’re asking: Is there still Hope for me? There is an answer. It is found in your Bible. The Lazarus Story (John 11:17–44) Let’s turn to John 11. Context…Jesus’ friend Lazarus has died. And when Jesus finally shows up, He’s “too late.” Jesus shows up at a funeral.  John 11:17–20 (NIV) Martha & Mary are Lazurus’ sisters.Mary stays home… Martha’s first words? John 11:21–22 2 interesting sentences. Tension. In other words:“I believe You’re powerful… but I don’t know what to believe right now.” Do you feel this way?God I believe you are powerful… but…Job issues, health issues, relationship issues Let’s see how Jesus responds. John 11:23–25 NOTICE! Jesus doesn’t rebuke her doubt. Instead, He points her to Himself. This moment matters. Jesus doesn’t just promise resurrection.He is resurrection. He is life. And He’s standing right in front of her. John 11:26–27 Martha’s hope shifts—not to what Jesus might do—but to who He is. 3 Responses to the Question of Hope ✅ 1. Stop Writing Your Own Ending We all carry a temptation to declare our story done. “I’ll never bounce back from that breakup.”“I’ll never overcome that addiction.”“I’ll never get past that failure.”“This is just how it ends for me.” But you are not the author. Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) You may feel like your story is stuck—but God holds the pen. Ask yourself this week: “What chapter have I stopped believing God can redeem?” We may need to repent of declaring our story done. ✅ 1. Stop Writing Your Own Ending ✅ 2. Rebuild Your Hope on Who Jesus Is Notice—Martha doesn’t say, “I believe things will work out.”She says, “I believe You are the Christ.” Real hope doesn’t come from believing in outcomes.It comes from believing in Jesus, even when the outcome still looks dead. Jesus is the foundation.Circumstances are shifting sands. Have you built your hope on circumstance or on Christ? I challenge you to make a list of 5 truths about who Jesus is—and let that become your foundation again. Roll the Stone Away Let’s finish the story. John 11:38–44 Jesus brings the miracle—but He asks them to move the stone. John 11 Sometimes faith looks like rolling away something heavy before you see the breakthrough. Ask yourself – What stone do I need to roll away?-Unforgiveness-Shame and regret-Control-Past hurt ✅ 1. Stop Writing Your Own Ending ✅ 2. Rebuild Your Hope on Who Jesus Is ✅ 3. Roll the Stone Away So… is there still hope for you? Hope is not a feeling. Hope is not a wish. Hope is a person — and His name is Jesus. When your emotions fluctuate, He remains steady.When life feels like it’s drifting, He holds you secure. Hebrews 6:19 (NIV) That means when everything around you shakes, Jesus doesn’t. And this isn’t dead religion or distant optimism — it’s living hope. 1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) says: Your hope is alive because Jesus is alive.So no matter how far gone it feels…No matter how late it seems… If you’re still breathing, Jesus is still speaking.Even if the stone is placed over you, your story isn’t over.Because if Jesus calls your name — hope still lives. So is there still hope for you? Yes! And His name is Jesus. ✅ Call to Action: Stop writing your own ending.Trust the Author with your next chapter. Rebuild your hope on who Jesus is.
