from The Oak Grove UMC Podcast

SUMMER Podcast 2024 // S4 EP05 "Tom Branch: Frazier-Rowe Park" 🎙️✨ The 5th and final episode of the summer podcast is a conversation with church and community member Tom Branch -- who helps coordinate the Friends of Frazier-Rowe Park: a beautiful DeKalb County Park near the Vista Grove shopping center. Tom shares some of the story of how the park was formed, what improvements have been made the park over the years, and how folks can enjoy the park and even get involved in caring for the park. Friends of Frazier-Rowe Park Website: http://www.frazier-rowepark.org/ Friends of Frazier-Rowe Park Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/FrazierRowePark Tom also shares some of his experience in helping with the Piney Grove Cemetery -- an historic African-American burial ground located in the Buckhead community of Atlanta.  The Cemetery has over 300 graves and its founding dates back to the 1800s. More info at https://www.pineygrovecemetery.com/ This is the final episode for the Summer Podcast and we will have another season of the Podcast coming out in September, which will focus on the "Wisdom of the Sages." __ This Season: The reality is that Oak Grove is a Church that has always existed inside of the larger community of Oak Grove. And so, we thought it be fun to explore a little bit more about our neighborhood, some of the stories of how this church began as a small brush arbor church in 1830's, and grew in the 1960’s to the current building and spaces we use now.  This season with Rev. Dr. Joseph McBrayer (Associate Pastor for Connection & Digital Ministry at Oak Grove UMC) will help you to more fully understand how to engage in the area where YOU live, and in the places that we find ourselves each and every day – as we continue to look for ways that God is already at work in the world and how we might join in that good work.
