Summer Swarm Soiree
from easytopia! Hosted by Herschel Sterling
https://herschelsterling.com/#cat-natural All the bugs are out at once. That’s how it seems on a humid summer night. The noise, the the swarms, the constant peppering on the skin, the bites and the general bugging that bugs do. It isn’t quite dark enough for the bats to get their work in. There are certainly birds having a late evening foray. Frogs are fattened on the profusion. Kids playing kickball under a dusky sky are swatting and waving off the diving droves. The itching and the scratching will be the conversations of bedtime. As the sun disappears, the assemblies about the streetlights are scandalous. The cloudy shadows on the street below are a magnified entomological event in themselves. The unmistakable advance of the bat population raucously enters the fray. The shadows on the street are now an altered form. Balance is slowly achieved, and the night settles down. As the evening closes down, with the screened windows open, the tranquilizing sounds of crickets and frogs afford the rhythm of sleep. 167 Words https://herschelsterling.com/#cat-natural 31 brand-new stories written & podcasted in 31 days This is a public episode.
