Make me feel worthwhile. Make me feel accepted. You cannot get from your husband or wife what you need from God. But you'll try. It is (fallen) human nature to look to anywhere but God for our needs. Release your husband or wife. There is no joy in being a bottomless pit - or living with one. The best your husband or wife can be is an imperfect vessel of God's love - just like you. Let him show you his love for you, his purpose for you, your significance in him, His acceptance of you, his delight in you, His strength for you, his peace for you... Then you will be a vessel of God's love for your spouse. You can come to your spouse empty or full. You can come needy or with your needs met.
