Sunday 1-28-2018 "Love Your Neighbor As Yourself"

The Command is ..... Love others    Luke 10:25-28 Who are we to love?  Be a neighbor to everybody Luke 10:29 Love Everyone/Anyone Anyone who comes across our path that you can help. What makes loving others so challenging? 1.  We do - we are selfish - no parent teaches their child how to be selfish - it comes naturally to them. Philippians 2:3-6 - Humble self - look out for others Romans 12:10 - Show love Ephesians 5:21 - Submit 1Peter 3:8 - Be tender hearted, be humble 2. They do - People can be hard to get along with Luke 6:27-28 - Love your enemies - bless & pray for them Romans 12:14 - Bless those who persecute you Acts 7:60 - Lord do not hold this sin against them Luke 23:34 - Jesus said on the cross, Father forgive them, they know not what they are doing. What does God mean by love - loving others? John 13:34 - love one another - new command you must love one another - meaning don't just love in a way you love yourself  Love as Jesus loved - Just as I have loved you! - His love is not self centered, it is a selfless love How has Jesus Loved you? Psalm 103 1. Forgives all my sins 2. Heals your diseases 3. Faithful Love 4. Patient 5. Lord is compassionate & gracious How do we do this?  - Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind ~ Love your neighbor as yourself. Start with the source 1 John 4:16 - And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. Let His love flow Luke 6:45 - A good man produces good out of the good storeroom of his heart. An evil man produces evil out of the evil storeroom, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. Matthew 12:34 - Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.  Let God's love flow through you and to all those around you.
