Homily given by Fr Cam on Sunday 12 October 2025. Why Do I Pray? 1. What does prayer look like for you? When do you pray? How long do you pray for? What does your prayer look like, reading, singing, sitting quietly, walking and talking with God? Do you often pray in the same way, frequently change it up, or simply go with whatever you feel like? 2. What do you expect to happen or come about when you prayer? What is the intended result of the time you spend with God? Try to be honest, even if it’s not a very “holy” answer. “I hope God will fix all my problems.” or “I feel guilty if I don’t pray.” It could be something very natural, like, “I feel relaxed when I sit quietly and read Scripture.” 3. What is the type of prayer that is essential for me in my journey right now? In what way is God blessing me or helping me to grow through this season? You might like to include a “preparatory prayer” in your prayer time, where you can state and ask for the desired grace.
