Who Do You Say That I AM? A Journey With Jesus - Sermon 47 Luke 13:1-5 I. Death is our Common Denominator John 9:3-7 1. Death exists because of sin, but not for a particular person's sin, per se. 2. Death can be a direct consequence of sin, or judgment from God. Heb. 9:27 John 3:16-17 John 11:25-26 John 3:18 Rev. 20:10-15 II. Repentance is our Coup De Grace Coup De Grace - stroke of grace - an action that finishes something 1 Cor. 15:50-57 Rev. 20:14 Death turns from a temporal experience to an eternal reality in this Great White Throne Judgment. Repentance is an issue because: 1. It means change and many people don't like change. 2. It means giving up something that has the allusion to mean something, but is actually chains. (i.e. sin) 3. It means a surrender; and we live in a world where many people are drunk on control. 4. It means humbling oneself in a world that is promoting and supporting pride.
