Who Do You Say That I AM? A Journey With Jesus - Sermon 49 Luke 13:22-24 "Lord, are there few that be saved?" I. The gospel will face opposition. Opposition the gospel faces today: 1. False gospels abound 2. Prosperity and comfort abound 3. Persecution and terrorism 4. Callousness and complacency 5. Love of pleasure 6. Church goers Luke 11:53-54 Acts 8:1 II. The gospel will be rejected by many. Why the gospel is rejected: 1. Refusal to surrender all 2. Refusal to repent 3. Procrastination 4. Religion, but no relationship 5. Knowledge of the truth, but no true acceptance Acts 7:54-60 Acts 26:27-29 Luke 13:25-28 III. The gospel will still work. Keys for the gospel working: 1. Pray. 2. Share it. 3. Remember points one and two. 4. Be faithful/consistent/committed. 5. Care "If in preaching the gospel you substitute your knowledge of the way of salvation for confidence in the power of the gospel, you hinder people from getting to reality." - Oswald Chambers Luke 13:29-30 "The chief danger of the Church today is that it is trying to get on the same side as the world, instead of turning the world upside down. Our Master expects us to accomplish results, even if they bring opposition and conflict. Anything is better than compromise, apathy, and paralysis.
