A Journey With Jesus - Sermon 58 Luke 17:7-10 Gal 5:13-14 I. Humble service is our privilege. 1 Cor 7:22 When we get a small grasp on grace, humble service is clearly a privilege. "People talk of the sacrifice I have made in spending so much of my life in Africa. It is emphatically no sacrifice. Say rather it is a privilege." - David Livingstone 1 Cor 15:10 Elisabeth Elliot "This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God's way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." II. Humble service yields huge blessings. "God's purpose in promising to reward with heavenly and eternal honors the faithful service of His saints, is to win them from the pursuit of earthly riches and pleasures, to sustain them in the fires of persecution, and to encourage them in the exercise of Christian virtues." - CI Scofield Rom 6:22-23 We are not always aware of the huge blessings that are wrapped in small packages. "The supreme test of service is this: For whom am I doing this? Much that we call service to Christ is not such at all....If we are doing this for Christ, we shall not care for human reward or even recognition." - AT Pierson III.
