Mortality - The Grace of Death Goals for the series 1. Anticipation of heaven -set our minds on things above.  Colossians 3:12 - Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 2. Realize part of my duty to talk about death. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 - Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 3. These people were unafraid to die.  Hebrews 1:14 - Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? Death is necessary for change. 1 Corinthains 15:50-57 The Beginning of death. Genesis 3:22-24 - And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us,knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the groundfrom which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming swordflashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. Pastor's Thoughts 1. The human body is a miraculous test to our creator. 2. Humans were made to live forever. 3. No such thing as a natural death. Death is not naturally part of the creation God had planned. 4. Death reveals a more serious problem.  Not physical, but sin is the problem.  Romans 5:12 - Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.  Romans 6:23 What is Worse than death? Spiritual Death / Separation from God. Cherubim - special heavenly creatures seen in the presence of God. Man was created to be with God forever. Sin separates us from God. Luke 12:5 - But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Revelation 20:14-15 - Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.  The Good News about Death Redemption begins too Two Giant Clues of what God has planned: 1.
