Sunday-morning fire closes La Vernia restaurant

Fajitas Restaurant in La Vernia is closed, following a fire Sunday morning. Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue crews were alerted at 6:51 a.m. of a blaze at the restaurant in the 12000 block of U.S. 87 W. According to Battalion Chief Tyler Dietert’s report, crews arrived within 2 minutes from the station nearby, and found a fire that was started by a kitchen appliance. The fire was “rapidly knocked down,” and caused only limited damage to the kitchen area. The dining room suffered only smoke damage, according to Dietert. The restaurant is closed for the time being.
