Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl And you are tuned in to try it's the quickest way to find out what's trending today Hey guys guess what today is it's super Tuesday. Let's get started You have heard about supermarkets super foods Superman and now here's super Tuesday, but you may be wondering Well, what's so super about it?

Well, first off if you don't know then you're probably not big into politics or you're really young or Maybe you've been living under a rock, but basically super Tuesday is the second most important Tuesday in the American political process after the general election It's where 14 states this year will hold their primaries and also American Samoa will caucus and Basically it's to determine their candidate for president and we know that the field was extremely large to start with And it's been whittled down and whittled down and so now there's just a handful of candidates but this is like the big time for them because Today there will be 1,345 delegates up for grab that's considered about 34% of all the Democratic Convention delegates Now compare that to the first four states I went to Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina They just had a total of 155 delegates combined so now you can kind of see why super Tuesday is so super There's a lot at stake here today is going to make and break some of these candidates platform and their whole their whole campaign Now the history of super Tuesday It was actually first known to have started back in 1988 with 20 states and they were mostly Southern and basically they're they're trying to have their voices heard they wanted to have more control in selecting a candidate for president and Unfortunately, they're they're a little plan didn't work out so since that time states have left states have come and basically states join super Tuesday because they it's like an incentive to have influence over the election process and along with that that That influence Money comes along with it because these candidates are coming and they're bringing their crews with them They're putting advertisement dollars into the communities. They're coming there and bringing people with them that's bringing money to Cities in particular. It's a really big fat hairy deal So I don't know if your state is one of the ones that will be going to the polls today Mine is however I am an absent te voter from one of the early states South Carolina represent whoop-woo So but if it is your time to vote on super Tuesday by all means get out there and have your voice heard and who knows Maybe your guy or gal will be the one that's elected as the nominee for the Democrats Now, I don't know why I did it, but I decided to look up the odds for this whole super Tuesday deal and on the website odds chart They actually gave me some So let me tell you about what I found they're saying that former vice president Joe Biden is favored in six of the 14 states on Super Tuesday Whereas Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is favorited in eight of the 14 states now Sanders is a huge favorite in California but the odds are a lot tighter in Texas and Because those are the two most populated states for Super Tuesday the account for 643 of the 1,357 pledge delegates, which is a little bit over a third of that total amount right there and so you know You don't know it could go either way But following the South Carolina primary where only Biden and Sanders won pledge delegates Pete Pete Buttigieg Tom Sawyer and Senator Amy Klochar they actually suspended their campaigns the fact that Buttigieg dropped out was a big surprise to everybody Because Mayor Pete had racked up the third most pledge delegates leading up to Super Tuesday with 26 just 34 behind Sanders is 60 Which you know Sanders was leading the way so they give you the option They're like you know if you're feeling confident about what the op the outcomes will be in a particular state or whatever You can get in on the action with odds starts handy. How to bet on politics guide are you feeling lucky?

So related but kind of sort of unrelated I was looking at this video and it was saying that Bloomberg has put 40 million dollars into the advertisements in California alone leading up to Super Tuesday and for the 14 states combined it was a total of like $124 million in advertising dollars and that Bernie Sanders although he's put in a little chunk himself For the whole 14 states his was just kind of like at maybe $10 million and that is mind-boggling to me And I I don't know maybe I'm naive Maybe I don't understand but if these candidates can put that kind of money into advertising And you're like you know so that's just a tool that doesn't include Biden and Buttigieg and Warren and Everybody else in that that's been doing this leading up to now We've got this thing called a national debt and I guess I don't understand why we can't switch things up to be like You know what if you want to run for president then you need to put some money into kitty And that kitty is going to the national debt I mean when you add up all of the money that these candidates are putting into the advertisements because honestly I hate political Advertisements, I don't know if I'm the only one maybe some of you guys like listen to that rhetoric But you know it's kind of like a company if I am creating my own Advertisements or the people that are for me are creating the advertisements for me Then what's gonna happen these advertisements are gonna be self-serving. They're not going to be in my opinion that there's a fact in it and then there's Fiction where you know you put your spin on it You say it in just the way that makes it kind of sort of true But not necessarily 100% true on some of the facts quote-unquote. Did you hear my error quotes there? I didn't quite do them really well the facts that they put into these commercials I mean, it's just like a signage all over the place when you have your local campaigns Put those signs in your yard.

Don't put them all over the place and when you put them all over the place pick them back up when the election's over I'm sorry. I guess that's just a source subject with me But I cannot stand those sorts of advertisements the signs and yards and on television as well I attended to now. I don't watch regular television Especially during campaigning season because I'm not interested Don't you know if you want to talk to me come to my community and talk to me But I got nothing for you on the advertising frame. So that's my suggestion Let's take these advertising dollars put it towards the national debt If you want to be president bad enough then you'll put your money towards where the issues are and then after that Then we can see what was up.

All right. I'm just saying All right. Well that was today's episode of tweet trends my apology for getting up there on that soapbox But I don't know I just kind of look at it like you know We got all this debt we got all this money floating around but instead we just throw it on to the television really anyway I'm sorry. I'll say the back of that direction again I had one foot up but I'm gonna take it down and I'm just gonna ask you politely if you would please head on over to Twitter and Follow me at hey, that's at he yvitt or just look for the hashtag tweet trends All right guys Do me a favor if you are in one of those popular 14 states or American Samoa and go on out and get your vote in get your caucus on And I'll see you back here on Thursday
