It's all at time. Hey, hey, my name is Kate. I'm a registered nutritionist and after 20 years in the field of nutrition, I'm tired of seeing people's stress about eating and confused about where to start. And so, I'm changing the conversation.

Let's do this. Welcome back to The Daily Doll Podcast. We are chatting some practical snack ideas in today's session and specifically talking about some really cool product ideas that you can grab from the supermarket to snack on. And I would like to reiterate the fact that I pride myself on being fully independent.
I am not paid by products, chains, lobby groups. Nobody pays me to say this. I'm fully independent. I'm paid by my small business.
My small business does not do product endorsements and all those kinds of things. So all of this advice in the episode is 100% independent and just products that I think might be helpful to you. And I'll explain why I think they might be helpful. And I also like talking about products on the supermarket because there is a lot of chatter online about processed foods and about how evil they are.
And if you'd like to know more about the nuances of food processing, how it affects the nutritional value of food, how do we balance whole foods versus processed foods and use this knowledge to be able to, you know, good diet quality and long-term health, you need to check out my knowledge from my program and how that is such an important lesson to learn because otherwise you'll just get confused in this very black and white thinking of whole versus processed foods. So I do like to talk about processed food options because all of the options I'm going to talk about today are processed to some extent. Right? And I'm going to tell you why they're a great option if that's what you choose to eat.
But also at the end of the day, you're an owl. You can eat whatever you want. So be free. They're in overalls.
So first idea is jibani yoga. And honestly, you guys, any yoga is great. And I, in fact, I remember a consult I had with an online client. So we were having, you know, a follow-up consult.
And we had many over the last few months. This was a nice little half hour catch-up. We talked about a lot of things. And this particular session right at the beginning, she asked about yoga.
And she was asking really particular questions like watch, I watch, I look from the label and stuff. And knowing what I know about nutrition, about health, about the food supply, right about your good, I said to her, we can 100% talk about yoga, but it's probably going to take a whole half hour session. Are you okay with that? Because it's a lot to go with.
And she was like, yeah, great. That's like, cool. So we dive into a spiel on yoga where we took it all the different types, low fat, extra ad-occurring. We look at an extra-known sugar, no added sugar, sweeteners, we look at stabilizers, thickeners, and also fires.
We look at all the different types. Honestly, we got to the end of the conversation where I explained all the different elements that go into various different yogurts. What are the things on the ingredients that they mean, et cetera? And we got to the end.
And she was like, she just looks at me. And she's like, so really, it's kind of like splitting straws with yoga. I should just buy the one that I like eating. And I was like, ding, ding, ding, ding, out of the sand, absolutely.
But I had to go through that conversation with her and we had to have some really nice open conversation here, her fears and her worries. So she felt heard and understood, and then she listened to my background knowledge, I can tell her about the processing of what these ingredients mean. For her to come to the conclusion of being like, I don't need to sweat this small stuff. and she would have left that console being like, but what about like all this stuff going on in her head.
So, she's a fan of yoga. I really like just as a flavor. It does have a higher amount of protein than other yogurts on the market because of how they've made it. So it's about what they do like they're straining and concentrating the protein as opposed to other yogurts.
But anyway, it's fine. I actually like chavani as an option. They've got like the yogurt patches or the little tubs. And I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, oh, I'm like, it does have a higher amount of protein than other yogurts on the market because of how they've made it.
So it's about what they do like they're straining and concentrating the protein as opposed to other yogurts. But anyway, it's fine. I actually like chavani as an option. They've got like the yogurt patches or the little tubs.
It's great. So great. So it's also calcium as well. How the micronutrients.
It's a great snack to have. It's a great post workout snack. Great breakfast. Yeah.
And I think, you know, you can get messy so fun little yogurt patches. I personally don't like yogurt patches. I think it's gross like sucking yogurt out of it. I don't know if it's gross as we have to, but it's totally wrong with it.
It's totally wrong with it. It's totally fine. Next snack idea. It's a husband, my favorite is a bola.
I actually know how to say it. Homus to go. So these little fun little bola bola hummus and whole grain cracker, whole packets. Now they're inexpensive way to buy different crackers.
100%. So they're a much more economical way to do this. But if you can afford it, they're a fun little snack. I also super love the cracker to dip ratio.
It ain't nothing like a 90's less snack for those of you who remember those in these whole lunchbox. Not enough. Geez for crackers at all. But this a bola hummus to go so much to your cracker.
So good. A lot of it. Homus is nice and rich in fiber. Healthy fats.
It's a nice satiating tasty snack. Next option is popcorn with like sea salt flavor. Or not else is really nice. It's a popcorn sweet and salty flavor as well because you get a little pop of sweet and salt in the same half.
That's really delicious as well. But popcorn is a pretty light snack. In that it's pretty low energy. It is a source of fiber.
You can buy in a multi-pack and you can get these really nice sort of snack sized packets. So you don't have to portion out yourself. They're all ready to go. The ones with butter and a bit more flavor might have a little bit more saturated fat.
They're fine as well if that's what you prefer. And it depends on your preferences and your health goals. But popcorn is a great little snack particularly if you're just feeling like munching. And you're not really that hungry because if you are hungry it's probably not going to be that same.
It doesn't really have that much energy. And true hungry is your body being like a one energy. So don't like fluff around and just give it a pop on. It needs more than that.
So you can pay a pop on with something else. I sometimes don't have to take a little pop on slice apple and slice cheese. And it's like that's a nice essential little burst of energy for your snack. Next up is a happy snack company.
Lightly salted roasted chickpeas or roasted fatty beans. They make these super tasty little legumes in like snack sized packs. Buy them in like 5, 6 snacks like snack sized packs in a box. So yummy they have a really great sodium amount and they're not too high in salt.
So yummy, really great flavor. I love them. They're quite tasty at satiating. Good sauce of protein and fiber.
Next up is a laughing cow cheese which I really like ingredients list on this cheese wedge. There are some additives in there because we need to stabilize it to your life guys. You can't go mouldy for putting it in a packet right? We can't have bad bacteria growing in there but the additives in there are very minimal and safe to consume.
I really love cream cheese on a cracker with some slicing items on paper like, yeah, so good cream cheese with some apple slices also delicious. So anyways, you have it cream cheese on like a slice of raised in toast. I call me a raised in toast. Cream cheese, so good.
Guys, I'm going to give it a try. So the next step is sun rice, snacks like beanie bite original. So they're like little rice cakes, air popped brown rice. They're really nice whole grain snack and these little snack size packs.
Actually, I don't know if you see those in my greasily. They need a great look. Anyway, they're nice and really nicely flavored. They can be a great little snack.
Again, they're pretty low energy. So if you are like real true body hunger and you're needing some energy, I would pair them with something else. So they're a little bit more like satiating. Actually, you need the fuel.
But if you're not super hungry, you just want some to nibble on your water and salty. They're a really great option. Next up is trile mix or almonds and you can buy excellent little packs of like 30g packs of nuts. nuts and dried fruit, nuts and seeds.
These are awesome. They've got great shelf life so you can keep your office or your pantry stocked with them. Do you know what I'm talking about? They're like little boxes and you buy a pack of six boxes.
Those are my earrings. It's a whole week of snacks. Right there. Have a piece of fruit or a tub of yogurt.
Lastly, I really like the comments musically or slash not bars. I think the comments brand does some really nice whole food ingredients list and have their sort of other additives to a pretty minimum. I really like the range of foods. I think they're offering lots of whole grains.
They've got some gluten-free options. They've got nuts that are seeds. Sometimes they're pretty little chocolate on them. I just really like them.
I find they're pretty satiating in enjoyable snacks. Actually the comments range. So what is it that you like to buy as a snack from the supermarket? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Please drop a comment on Spotify if you're listening or jump on social media and let me know. Say me again. I love hearing from you guys. What snacks do you like from the supermarket?
