Let’s fi Tanks by Murray Leinster (1896 - 1975) LibriVox Tanks and the future of war is what Murray Leinster speculates about in this story. Written in the 1920's he observed the terrible new inventions that were used in World War I to kill people, armored tanks and poisoned gas and then tells us how war will be fought in the future. In this case the war will occur in 1932 and be between the US and the 'Yellow enemy'. It was published in the very first issue of Astounding Stories of Super Science, January 1930. It is science fiction in the sense that it guesses what the future will hold for man based on developing the technology that was coming into being at the time, the 1920's. He leads off with a 'quote' from a future historian " ... The deciding battle of the War of 1932 was the first in which the use of infantry was practically discontinued ... —History of the U.S., 1920-1945 (Gregg-Harley). Two Essays On Military History, Strategy, and Tactics: Mountain Warfare (1909) And Naval Strategy (1917) by Wilkinson Dent Bird (1869 - 1943) and John Leyland (1858 - 1924) LibriVox One essay (1909) lays out tactics for mountain fighting, focused on British Army experience on the Indian frontier (Afghanistan), penned by a British officer who fought in that conflict, Wilkinson Dent Bird. The other essay (1917) focuses on the British navy in World War I written by an author who specialized in British naval strategy and history, John Leyland. - Summary by david wales She Had To Break AmandaJean Have you ever met someone in life and thought “wow she is so bubbly, she must have her shit together.... and I bet she’s lived a charm life.” Then you sit down with her and you hear her story, it sinks in that she’s fought battles you couldn’t even begin to imagine. That she has more courage than the fiercest lion and that she’s sailed through storms on weathered ships. She was broken time and time again, yet she still stood tall in her faith and sought the beauty in each disaster she encountered. God, he broke her......so that I could shine.
