Send us Fan MailIn honor of Juneteenth, we explore the tradition of jumping the broom. Enslaved people were not allowed legal marriages; they were stolen away from their families. Despite knowing this, they still made solemn declarations of love in ceremonies where jumping over a broom solidified their unions.
