Support, Not Salary

from Wilderness to Wisdom Podcast Hosted by Chastity Dawn

Scripture is clear that those who labor in teaching are to be supported. The question isn’t whether support is biblical. It is. The question is what happened between what Scripture describes and what we see today. Paul had that right and chose not to use it. He worked. He received gifts when they came freely. Giving was decided in the heart, not pulled from people by emotional appeals or signed commitments. Provision moved through a body that knew each other. Somewhere between then and now, a system was built that guarantees a paycheck, raises funds for buildings, and adds a return on giving that has nothing to do with the Holy Spirit. Scripture already warned about shepherds who feed themselves, priests who teach for a price, and hired hands who run when the wolf comes because the sheep aren’t theirs. Support for those who labor is biblical. A system that turns ministry into a way to generate income or compel people to give is not. This episode is a look at the contrast, with the Word as the measure. 📖 Want to go deeper?
